As much as it pains us to admit it, we're not professional software developers. So, even though Moodstats has been through a rigorious testing phase, there may still be teeny-tiny bugs lurking in the program.

What's the latest version of Moodstats?
The latest version of Moodstats is version 1.22, which was made public on June 13th 2003.
I've purchased the Codex 3 CD, now what?
The Codex CD version of Moodstats differs from the web version in two major aspects: it includes a funky soundtrack created by some of the most talented electronica artists out there, and, secondly, it doesn't require a serial number to work (it comes unlocked straight off the CD).
The two versions of Moodstats do share the same codebase, though, which means that you can update your Codex version of Moodstats by downloading the version on this site. Rock on!
How do I update my version of Moodstats?
Due to the way the application has been developed, it is very easy to update Moodstats when a new version comes out. Simply copy the "data.xml"-file from your old Moodstats folder over into your new Moodstats folder - that's all.
If you want to be real fancy, you can also synchronize your old Moodstats data, then install the new version, start the application and click the "Existing User"-button on the first welcome screen. That will allow you to pick up all your userdata from the server. NOTE: This only works if you've synchronized with the server beforehand.
I'm at work, behind a firewall, and Moodstats won't sync
Go to the My Profile-section. Hit the My Settings-button, and a small panel will pop up in which you can enter the IP and port number for your firewall. Once you've done that, you shouldn't have any problems with synchronizing behind a firewall.
Help! I've accidentally deleted my Moodstats folder!
Have no fear, true believer - your Moodstats data is still safe & sound on the Moodstats server. Simply re-install the application, start Moodstats and click on the 'existing user'-button on the very first, pink screen. Then you'll be able to grab your userfile off the server. If you've also lost your Moodstats password, shoot us an email at support@moodstats.com, and we'll help you out.
When I type into text fields, the computer beeps!
Because of the nature of the XML data format, only a specific set of characters are allowed in these text fields - if you're trying to enter a character that is not on the list, it will alert you by beeping.
In the Notes & Diary fields pretty much every character from the different european alphabets are permitted, but the other editable fields (username, password, website, etc) will only accept 'normal' lower- or upper-case characters (including numerals).
Synchronization problems
If you are having problems synching with the Moodstats server, first check that your Internet connection is actually running and working.
If it is, and you still can't sync, try quitting Moodstats (the program will save all your data automatically). When you re-open the program, hopefully the synch process should work again.
If it still doesn't work, email us at support@moodstats.com.
When I start Moodstats, it gives me a 'script error'!
An error like that usually means that your user file contains illegal characters that Moodstats cannot understand (try opening up the data.xml in a text editor, and see if you can spot weird square-ish shaped characters).
IF you have previously synchronized your data, the easiest thing to do is to delete your 'data.xml' file, and then start Moodstats again. When the application begins, it will allow you to grab a fresh copy of your user file from the Moodstats server.
I can't see any curves in 'View Data' or 'Compare Data'?
Check the green date markers at the bottom - you've probably scrolled outside of the dates in which you've entered data.
Either drag the date marker back to its original position, or click the 'Reset View'-button.
What does the functions within 'Change Prefs' do?
If 'Password Lock' is turned on, you have to type in your password every time you open up the Moodstats application (which is nice if you have the program on a machine that isn't used exclusively by you).
If 'Notes: shown' is turned on, all notes that you have entered for a given day in 'Enter Data' will automatically be folded out when you are on that day (for quick editing/viewing access).
If 'Notes: private' is turned on, any note that you enter will automatically be private (which is the default). If it's turned off, they will automatically be public - unless the specific category has been marked as private.
The 'Default View'-setting determines what date range you will start off on when you go to the 'View Data'-section.
Can 2 copies of Moodstats run on the same machine?
It's no problem having two copies of Moodstats running on the same machine - simply install Moodstats and then make a duplicate of the resulting folder (you might then want to change the name of the folder, just to avoid any confusion).
However, if you want to have two different people using Moodstats on the same computer, you will need to purchase two (2) licenses - as each serial number is linked to one specific userID.
How do I use Moodstats on two different computers?
1. When you leave one machine, synchronize your data before you quit.
2. When you sit down in front of another machine, make sure the very first thing you do is to synchronize your data (if you don't, any new data you have entered will be lost).
3. That's it - your Moodstats userfile should now be up-to-date.
I've purchased a serial number - what do I do now?
Jump into the 'Synchronize Your Data'-section and click the 'Register'-button. That'll allow you to enter your serial number, and thereby personalize your copy of Moodstats.
If you really want to make us happy, do a synchronization straight afterwards - that way we and the Moodstats database also know that you've gone legit!
Who handles your payment system? Is it secure?
We've teamed up with the nice people over at Kagi to handle the payment system for Moodstats - which means that we're able to deal with credit card billing, check and cash options. If you're interested in knowing more about Kagi & their services, check out their website at Kagi.com. As for security, yes, all payment & personal information that you transmit across the web when buying a license for Moodstats is completely secure. Trust us on this - we're Danish!
Can I freely share my Moodstats serial number?
No. By purchasing a serial number for Moodstats, you get one (1) license for the program. Once you synchronize your data that serial number will be linked to your specific userID, and will become void & unusable. So if you give you Moodstats serial number to a friend (which is illegal, btw), it will give them an error message when they try to synchronize.
If this happens, we will hunt you down and slap you around a bit.
Is the diary private? I mean, *really* private?
Yes, the diary is very, very private. Even though your diary data does get included when you synchronize with the Moodstats server (for back-up purposes), nobody but you has access to this information.
We've got some skeletons in our closet, some dirty laundry that we'd rather not have aired in front of an unsuspecting public, and this information is all contained within our rosy-red Moodstats diaries.
How much of my information can other users see?
The short answer is: as much or as little as you want them to. Within your Moodstats user profile, you can turn pretty much everything private - including all your personal information, email address, your custom categories, etc.
When you're writing notes in the 'Enter Data'-section, these notes are private by default (but can be made public). Text entered into the Diary is always private - and can't be shared with anyone else.
